World Aviation Festival: Summits, Speakers and Start-Ups

The World Aviation Festival is taking place between 26-28th September 2023 at the FIL Lisbon Exhibition and Congress Centre. There are over 500 speakers including Sir Tim Clark President of Emirates, Luís Rodrigues CEO of TAP, Willie Walsh CEO of IATA, Luis Gallego CEO of IAG and Eddie Wilson CEO of Ryanair. 

Summits will also be taking place throughout the Festival giving insights from industry-leaders on a range of themes. Two new sessions will be launched at the event including the Cyber Summit and Irregular Operations (IROPS) Summit.

The Cyber Summit is in partnership with Aviation ISAC, an international community of airlines, airports, IFE/Satcom, OEMs and aviation service providers. The Summit will map out the evolving threat, as well as the challenges of, an increasingly regulated cybersecurity market.

Discussions will be led by a range of stakeholders including airlines, airports and organisations to understand the threat and explore innovative solutions to navigate the growing threat of cybersecurity.

In the IROPS Summit, sessions will focus on prediction and prevention as well as customer recovery. Here, the potential applications of technology to mitigate the extremes of disruption are considered as well as the human aspect and prioritising communication with the customer.

This summit will feature speakers from airlines including James Machen, Group Head of Operations at AirAsia, Steven Boliek, Strategy and Performance – Irregular Operations at United, Duarte Afonso, Senior Director - Ops and Strategy Performance at TAP, and Marlou Bordes, Director Customer Experience at KLM.

Over 100 early-stage SMEs will be hosted in the Start-Up Village. The Village, open between 27th – 28th September, will host a dedicated pitching zone running throughout the event. Newly launched start-ups attending include Triend, Chain4Travel, RAVL, CirculAIRity, and Frizbit.
