Mercure Hotels, a cornerstone of Accor’s diverse hospitality portfolio, has reached a significant milestone: the opening of its 1,000th hotel worldwide.
The milestone of 1,000 hotels was reached in 2024, marked by several notable openings, including Mercure London Earls Court (UK), Mercure Chandigarh Tribune Chowk (India), Mercure Fukuoka Munakata Resort & Spa (Japan), Mercure Marival Emotions Resort (Mexico), Mercure Nantong Renmin Road (China), and Mercure Dubai Deira (UAE).
This achievement is not only a testament to Mercure’s growth and enduring appeal but also highlights its crucial role within Accor’s global portfolio. As one of the leading midscale brands and one of the most localized brands within Accor, Mercure exemplifies the Group’s commitment to offering authentic, locally inspired guest experiences across a broad range of markets.
Through its “Discover Local” program, designed to deepen guests' connections with the destination, Mercure welcomes guests to “Feel Local Everywhere”.
Mercure’s commitment to growth is evident in its recent expansion efforts and not only increase Mercure’s global footprint but also enrich the brand’s ability to offer localized experiences in new regions. As Mercure reaches its 1,000th hotel, the brand’s vision for the future is clear.
With the largest development pipeline in Accor’s portfolio with over 210 additional hotels planned by 2028, Mercure is poised for continued growth and innovation.
Mercure’s journey began in 1973 and soon followed with its first hotel in Saint-Witz, France, taking its name from Mercury, the god of travel, and honoring that legacy by evolving today into a global network of 1,000 hotels.
Today, the brand’s presence spans 68 countries, reflecting both its historical growth and its ongoing dedication to delivering authentic guest experiences.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.
Wonderful event and topics discussed, hopefully we see the manifestations in our African airline businesses in the nearest future. Kudos to you all.
