ITA Airways Begins Nonstop Flights Between Italy and Libya

ITA Airways yesterday launched its first non-stopflight between Tripoli Mitiga and Rome Fiumicino. The service will operate two times a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

Flight departs from Rome Fiumicino at 9:15 a.m. and arrive Tripoli Mitiga at 12:10 p.m. Return flight departs Tripoli at 1:05 p.m. and arrive Rome at 2:10 p.m. All times are local.

“We are proud to inaugurate today our first direct commercial flight between Tripoli and Rome Fiumicino, strengthening commercial and cultural ties between Libya and Italy in support of the bilateral relations between the two Countries”, said Andrea Benassi, General Manager of ITA Airways.

“This new flight is yet another demonstration of the Company’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality connectivity for Italy while proudly supporting the progress, growth and development of the Nation and the business communities operating in Libya.

The opening of this direct connection between Tripoli Mitiga and Rome Fiumicino is a virtuous example of public-private collaboration. For this, as the Italian reference carrier, we wish to extend our gratitude to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the respective Ministries of Transport, ENAC, and the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority”.

“We are very pleased to welcome this further important development of ITA Airways network - said Ivan Bassato, Chief Aviation Officer of Aeroporti di Roma. - The new route to Tripoli will represent a strategic bridge between our Country and Libya, strengthening the positioning of our hub to support the connectivity of Africa, a continent that in 2024 reached a record level exceeding the threshold of 2 million passengers to/from Rome, up 38% compared to the previous year”.

“Starting today, Italy and Libya are finally reconnected with direct flights operated by ITA Airways," said Fabio Nicolai, Acting Director General of ENAC. "These flights open up new economic and commercial opportunities. Now more than ever, air transport represents a strategic link between peoples and cultures, renewing the ancient bonds of friendship that unite our two Countries.

This marks the result of a collaborative effort that involved ENAC, its President Pierluigi Di Palma, and the technical teams at the forefront, showcasing air transport’s ability to break down barriers and foster relationships and connections between peoples.

By continuing to promote safety, technological innovation, and service quality, today we take another step forward, ready to embrace new challenges and open new paths in the air transport of tomorrow”.

"I am pleased to participate in this historic occasion that marks the launch of ITA Airways' direct connections to Libya", said Muhanad Saeid Younus, Ambassador of Libya to Italy. "This connection represents a significant step in strengthening the cooperation between our Countries, the result of joint efforts by the Libyan and Italian governments. It is a new beginning that reinforces the ties between our peoples and opens new opportunities for economic, commercial, and cultural cooperation. We hope this will be just the first of many bilateral successes for the benefit of both Nations".

With Tripoli added to its network, ITA Airways offers 55 destinations during the winter season.

ITA Airways flights can be purchased on the ita-airways.com website, via ITA Airways Customer Information Assistance Office, travel agencies and airport ticket offices.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review about ethiopian airlines in your post. I am an avid traveller and keep reading flight reviews to assess the options available. Your review particularly drew my attention because you have shared so many pictures to capture every aspect of the flight experience. It is a very nice effort.

I am really tempted to book the next ethiopian airlines ticket and relive your journey. The pictures shared with the post also reflect that you truly enjoyed the travel. Great post! I also like the fact that you have covered nuances about the food and entertainment service through the pictures. It helps people know what to expect on their travel by this airline.
