Airlink Launches Gaborone, Boosts Flights to Nairobi and Lusaka

Chidozie Uzoezie

Airlink, Southern Africa’s premier airline will launch direct Cape Town-Gaborone flights on 01 April 2025.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays departing Cape Town International Airport at 10.50 and arriving at Gaborone’s Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at 13.00. The return service leaves Gaborone at 13.45 and lands in Cape Town at 16.00.

Airlink will operate its modern 44-seat Embraer E140 Regional Jets on the route. Economy Class fares include a complimentary 20kg luggage allowance ; however, full fare Economy (Y class) tickets include a 30kg free luggage allowance.

Gaborone is an important regional destination for business with the city being home to thriving minerals, resources, automotive and tech sector companies and it hosts the Southern African Development Community headquarters. It is also an important leisure tourism gateway to many game lodges and the Gaborone Game Reserve.

“Gaborone and Cape Town are important destinations for business and leisure travel and we have seen rising interest and demand from local and international long haul customers, for an Airlink direct service between the two cities.

With the introduction of this non-stop Airlink service, we’re also able to provide seamless connections at Cape Town for those customers travelling between Gaborone and numerous long-haul destinations on our various international partner airlines’ flights,” said Airlink CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster.

In a similar vein, Airlink will boost its Nairobi and Lusaka services with additional flights from 30 March 2025.

Three weekly night-time return flights will operate between Johannesburg and Nairobi. These augment Airlink’s daily service launched in 2023 when the airline became the first private-sector carrier to compete on the route.

Airlink will also add morning and afternoon flights to its popular Johannesburg-Lusaka service, increasing the schedule from 13 to 21 return flights a week.

“The additional Nairobi and Lusaka flights are scheduled to provide business and leisure travellers with greater choices and convenient connections, through Airlink’s Johannesburg hub, with our other domestic and regional services as well as long-haul flights provided by our global airline partners,” said Rodger Foster, Airlink’s CEO and Managing Director.

Airlink flights are scheduled to provide convenient connections with domestic and regional services as well as with long-haul flights provided by its global airline partners.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review about ethiopian airlines in your post. I am an avid traveller and keep reading flight reviews to assess the options available. Your review particularly drew my attention because you have shared so many pictures to capture every aspect of the flight experience. It is a very nice effort.

I am really tempted to book the next ethiopian airlines ticket and relive your journey. The pictures shared with the post also reflect that you truly enjoyed the travel. Great post! I also like the fact that you have covered nuances about the food and entertainment service through the pictures. It helps people know what to expect on their travel by this airline.
