South African Airways Cancels Domestic and International Routes

In a bid to further restructure and reposition for profitability, South African Airways (SAA) has cancelled most of its domestic routes as well as some of its regional and international routes.

As from 29th February 2020, the airline will cancel all domestic destinations except Cape Town which will be operated on a reduced basis. Cancelled routes include Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth. Domestic routes operated by Mango will not be affected by the changes.

On the international route network, SAA will from 29th February 2020, close regional and international services from Johannesburg to Abidjan via Accra, Entebbe, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Luanda, Munich, Ndola, and Sao Paulo.

However, SAA will continue to operate all international services between Johannesburg and Frankfurt, London Heathrow, New York, Perth and Washington via Accra.

Regional services to be retained include Johannesburg to Blantyre, Dar es Salaam, Harare, Kinshasa, Lagos, Lilongwe, Lusaka, Maputo, Mauritius, Nairobi, Victoria Falls, Livingston and Windhoek.

According to the airline, all customers booked on any cancelled international and regional routes will receive a full refund while customers booked on cancelled domestic flights will be re-accommodated on services operated by Mango.

South African Airways says it does not intend to make any further significant network changes, urging passengers and travel agents to feel confident and book future travel with the airline.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review about ethiopian airlines in your post. I am an avid traveller and keep reading flight reviews to assess the options available. Your review particularly drew my attention because you have shared so many pictures to capture every aspect of the flight experience. It is a very nice effort.

I am really tempted to book the next ethiopian airlines ticket and relive your journey. The pictures shared with the post also reflect that you truly enjoyed the travel. Great post! I also like the fact that you have covered nuances about the food and entertainment service through the pictures. It helps people know what to expect on their travel by this airline.
