Table Mountain: The Intrigues of The New Seven Wonder of Nature

The ride to the top is thrilling, it is adrenaline-pumping and it is breathtaking. The view is even more so, it is extremely panoramic and sensationally scenic. The feeling from the summit is orgasmic, exhilarating and heavenly, yet almost indescribable. Speaking in absolute terms and from experience, the only way to be able to paint the pictures and tell the story of the Table Mountain is to experience it first hand. There's no better way. In fact, there's no other way! Cape Town, South Africa is known for its many awe-inspiring tourist attractions, most of them will make your heart skip, but the Table Mountain is by far the most exciting and rewarding. That is, if you ask me. Voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2011, the Table Mountain is said to be one of the oldest mountains in the world. It overlooks the entire city of Cape Town. The height of the Mountain at its highest point - called Maclear's Beacon - is 1,085 metres above sea level. The mountain's famous tablecloth is a meteorological phenomenon that causes cloud to tumble down the mountain slopes like billowing fabrics.

If you happen to find yourself in Cape Town for whatever reason, exploring the Table Mountain and discovering the newest wonder of nature is an experience that you should not miss for anything. It should be at the very top of your bucketlist, especially if you're an adrenaline-junkee. The good thing about exploring the Table Mountain is that you don't need to be a highlander or an intrepid explorer. But on the other side, you'll need to have had your breakfast, because you'll need some physical strength especially if you're hiking. But if you're taking the easy way, a cup of coffee or tea will do the magic. But however you decide to get to the top, exploring the Table Mountain will definitely turn out to be the adventure of your life. When it comes to getting to the peak of the Table Mountain, bad weather can be a spanner in the works. Due to weather related issues, tourists, often times, have to try their luck more than once to climb the Table Mountain. But if weather permits, and in the absence of high speed winds, the easiest and the most convenient way to get to the summit of the Table Mountain is by the Aerial Cableway. After obtaining your tickets, you'll join the queue to the Table Mountain Cableway which will take you to the summit of the Table Mountain. The queue is usually long, but even the wait on the queue is rewarding as you can have a pretty good view of Cape Town city from the foot of the mountain.

The Table Mountain Ariel Cableway can accommodate up to 65 people at a time, transporting about 800 people per hour at peak times. At a maximum speed of 10 meters per second, it transports tourists from the base of the mountain to the summit and from the summit to the base. There are usually two of them working simultaneously on two different cables ways, one takes people up while the other brings them down. Unbelievably, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has been in operations since 4th October, 1929 and has transported over 27 million tourists to and fro the summit of the Table Mountain. To say the least, the ride from the base of the mountain to its peak is incredibly scenic, it literally took my breath away and will definitely take yours. If there's any apprehension, it is short lived as it is soon taken away by the excitement that follows. To give tourists a 360° view of Cape Town and its environs, the Cableway car slowly rotates while moving up or down. The feeling is exotic and priceless. The rotation also provides better aerodynamics for the Cableway car which translates to a smoother ride for tourists. The base of the cable car has built-in water tanks that carry 3,000 litres of water which serves as ballast in windy seasons.

The view from the top is incredibly beautiful, it is uninterruptedly picturesque and holistically panoramic. The scenic beauty is out of this world, not like any other view I had seen before. Once on top of the Mountain, you can set yourself loose and let your imaginations literally run wide and wild. You can put on your wanderlusting shoes and awaken your curious mind. On the top, you can reconnect with pristine nature while the exhilarating atmosphere soothes your poor weary soul. You can commune with the Angels and other extraterrestrial elements, after all, heaven is only a stone throw away. Practically every other landmark in Cape Town can be viewed from the top of the Table Mountain including the Cape Town Stadium, Lion's Head, Signal Hill, Robben Island, V&A Waterfront etc. Beyond taking a walk and enjoying spectacular views, you can also dine and wine at the Table Mountain cafe. If you're looking for a little souvenir to remind you of your Table Mountain experience, the shop at the top is a great place to explore. And if you need to answer the call of nature while up there, toilet facilities are available. Should you want to put on your researcher's binoculars and feed your interest in Botany or Zoology, there's abundant vegetation and significant animal life on the Mountain.

The Table Mountain is easily the most popular, the most imposing, the most visible and the most significant landmark in Cape Town. It defines and shapes Cape Town. For me, being on the peak of the Table Mountain was a dream come true, I must have felt like Neil Armstrong when he became the first man to land on the moon in 1969. In monetary terms, exploring the Table Mountain by the Cableway car is not free, but it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. With 330 Rands (about $22), you're good to go and the Mountain is all your. Not to twist your arm, but if I can shoot from the hip, I’d say that exploring the Table Mountain is probably the most exciting thing you'll ever do in Cape Town. The beauty on and around the Table Mountain is comprehensive. On the Table Mountain, there's a conjugal and blissful meeting between man's ingenuity and the wonders of nature. There's art, there's science and there's even religion. Being on or to the top of the Table Mountain is an adventure that gives you intense thrills on the spot, and afterwards, intermittent outbursts of excitement and chains of happy memories. So, if you're planning on taking a vacation in South Africa or even travelling for business, visiting the Table Mountain in Cape Town should be the number one on your bucketlist, especially if you've got some adrenaline.

I also like the fact that you have covered nuances about the food and entertainment service through the pictures. It helps people know what to expect on their travel by this airline.
