
TAP Air Portugal, the national carrier of Portugal, has commenced direct service between Lisbon, the Portuguese capital and Washington DC, the capital of the United States of America. The new service will operate five times a week, leaving Lisbon at 16:30 and arriving at Dulles at 19:40 local time. The flight leaves Washington at 22:40, arriving Lisbon at 10:50 the next day.
This is the third American destination TAP Portugal has launched this summer. The airline, had on 1 June, launched service to Chicago, and on 10 June, it began flights to San Francisco. The airline will launch flights to five more destinations this summer including Conakry and Banjul from Lisbon, and Brussels, Lyon and Munich from Porto. With the new routes, TAP network will grow to 91 cities in 37 countries.
Currently, TAP flies to 16 destinations in Africa including Marrakesh, Casablanca, Tangier and Fez, Cape Verde, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana, S. Tomé and Príncipe, Angola and Mozambique.
