Ghana Gets $50 Million Tourism Grant From World Bank

The World Bank has approved a $50-million grant for Ghana's Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, according to Graphic Online.

The grant which is yet to be released, will help to the tourism ministry implement various projects and reform Ghana’s tourism strategy and sector development to boost tourism and creative arts.

According to reports, the grant will also be used to strengthen the ministry and its agencies to increase capacity to create jobs, empower women and youth engaged in tourism value chain.

Speaking on the grant, Ghana's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Catherine Afeku said: “With this fund, we are going to enhance tourists’ experience from the time of disembarking from the airport, through Immigration, taking taxis to hotels to visiting sites and returning to their countries.

“The result should be repeat experience and return visits. And that value-chain is what we are getting this support for, among others, to ensure that tourists do not leave with bad taste in their mouths,” she stated.
