The first Carnival Calabar Dry Run may have ended, but the success stories are far from completely told, even as the city prepares to host the second dry run slated for November 19.
Flagging off the first dry run was the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Professor Ivara Esu, who was supported by V.I.P. Guests invited by the State Government to observe the event, including the Minister Of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed represented by the Permanent Secretary, Deaconess Grace Gekpe.
Other invited guests included the Director General Of the National Council Of Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe; International Consultant to Carnival Calabar and Organiser Of Akwaaba African Travel Market, Mr. Ikechi Uko; President of Nigeria Association Of Tour Operators, Mr. Nkereuwem Onung; Publisher Of Travel scope Magazine, Mr. John Omololu; and my humble self, Mrs. Tourism United Nations World 15/16, Ebele Enemchukwu.
Great dance steps were displayed as the team journeyed to the first adjudication point, while such people as the Deputy Governor reminded everyone with his rocking skills that age is truly just a number.
The Dj was great with his playlist of back to back tracks. "Wo" by Olamide and "One Corner" from Ghana have been predicted by Mr. Ikechi Uko to dominate this year's Carnival Calabar, come December. He just might be right as almost all the bands requested these two songs for their performances.
A visit to two Band Camps (Freedom & Seagull), and our awareness campaign on Canaanland 99.5FM radio station formed part of our Calabar experience.
Our dry run eve climaxed with our exciting mini city tour on the only monorail in West Africa. Thankfully, Mr. Nkereuwem has great plans for this magnificent tourism product.
After a great outing on both days, the V.I.P. Guests were warmly received by the Governor of the State, Professor Senator Ben Ayade, in his office where he listened to all who spoke, after which he responded.
The positive results of the visit should be witnessed over the coming months and beyond.
EbeleEze-Enemchukwu is the immediate past Mrs Tourism United Nations, she wrote in from Lagos, Nigeria. Follow her on Facebook.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.
Wonderful event and topics discussed, hopefully we see the manifestations in our African airline businesses in the nearest future. Kudos to you all.
