Ethiopian Airlines has spread its wings to Kaduna, Nigeria with the launch of a three-weekly service between Addis-Ababa and the northern Nigerian city.
The inaugural flight which was operated by a Boeing 737-800NG took off from Addis Ababa Bole Airport at 9:48 this morning and landed at kaduna airport at 12:02pm local time.
Welcoming the inaugural service, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufa said "Ethiopian Airlines has stood by Kaduna State. We shall support Ethiopian Airlines to make its regular flights from Kaduna successful"
With the addition of Kaduna which is its 5th gateway in Nigeria, Ethiopian now operates 23 weekly flights to five destinations in Nigeria including Abuja, Lagos, Enugu and Kano.
The new service will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays using a Boeing 737-800NG. Flight ET0913 departs Addis Ababa at 09:30 local time and arrives Kaduna at 12:30 local time. Return Flight ET0912 leaves Kaduna at 13:20 and arrives Addis Ababa Airport at 20:20.
Earlier in the year, Ethiopian operated to Kaduna Airport during the temporary closure of Abuja Airport for runway repairs. In fact, Ethiopian was the only foreign carrier to fly to Kaduna Airport during the period.
Located in north-western Nigeria, Kaduna is a trade center and a major transportation hub for the surrounding agricultural areas with its rail and road junction.
Ethiopian Airlines maiden flight to Nigeria dates back to the 1960’s; same time the country got independence from foreign colonization.
Ethiopian is the fastest growing Airline in Africa. It commands the lion’s share of the pan-African network with the youngest and most modern fleet to more than 95 international destinations across five continents.
