EgyptAir Operates First All Women Crewed Flight

EgyptAir has operated its first ever all female-only crewed flights with two of such flights taking off from Cairo International Airport at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 22 March, 2017.

Flight 914 operated by an Airbus 330 flew to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, and was captained by Hasnaa Taymour and co-piloted by Sara Abdel Fatah.

Flight 610 which was operated by a Boeing 737- 800NG departed for Kuwait, and was flown by Captain Heba Darwish and co-piloted by Sarah Rushdi.

Egyptair currently has a total of 12 female pilots and co-pilots working on different types of aircraft.

Egyptair Airlines chief executive, Captain Sherif Ezzat, said: “It is time to promote women’s empowerment and encourage more Egyptian women to pursue aviation careers. Today is going to be very inspiring for all the women all over the world, aviation women and particularly the Egyptian woman.”

In recent years, African women have been taking center-stage in the aviation industry both as cockpit crew, cabin crew and engineering crew.

In 2014, Kenya Airways’ fourth Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was flown from the Boeing assembly plant to Nairobi by an all-female crew with Captain Irene Koki Mutungi at the controls.

On 19 November, 2015, Ethiopian Airlines operated its first all-female-crew flight with a Boeing 767 service from Addis Ababa to Bangkok commanded by Captain Amsale Gualu.

Aerocontractors Airline of Nigeria, Air Zimbabwe and Malawian Airlines have all operated all-female-crew flights.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review about ethiopian airlines in your post. I am an avid traveller and keep reading flight reviews to assess the options available. Your review particularly drew my attention because you have shared so many pictures to capture every aspect of the flight experience. It is a very nice effort.

I am really tempted to book the next ethiopian airlines ticket and relive your journey. The pictures shared with the post also reflect that you truly enjoyed the travel. Great post! I also like the fact that you have covered nuances about the food and entertainment service through the pictures. It helps people know what to expect on their travel by this airline.
