On 2 December 2016, South African Airways received its first Airbus A330-300 aircraft which was part of five A330-300 aircraft on order. By the end of H1 2017, the airline would have received all five.
After recently refurbishing their short-haul fleet, South African Airways has now rolled out its brand new business and economy class products on the three new A330-300’s.
The brand new design by Priestmangoode also features entrance areas, brand panels and cabin branding throughout the aircraft. Take a look:
With South African accent, the entrance area continues the brand and design language developed for the airline’s A320 fleet. After all, first impression matters.
Priestmangoode have also injected personality and texture to the bulkheads and partition walls throughout the aircraft, adding more touches of ‘Africa’ in a contemporary, elegant finish.
The Economy Class cabin features a custom seat upholstered in fabric with a bespoke pattern inspired by contemporary African crafts. There are 203 newly designed slim-line economy seats, all with extra personal space and generous legroom. Each seat is fitted with a 10,1” screen, individual USB charging ports and access to shared PC power points.
The custom Thompson Vantage XL Business Class seats are in a staggered 1-2-1 configuration, offering increased privacy and providing all Business Class passengers with direct access to the aisle.
The colour palette contrasts the dark anthracite of contemporary South African architecture and cityscapes with the rich tones of winter sun and earthen landscapes.
Personal stowage shroud designed to create a distinct look and integrates seat features such as passenger reading light and seat controls.
...and then the headrest, neatly crested with the airline's logo.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.
Wonderful event and topics discussed, hopefully we see the manifestations in our African airline businesses in the nearest future. Kudos to you all.
