RwandAir Takes Delivery of Second Airbus A330 Aircraft



RwandAir the national flag carrier of the Republic of Rwanda on 30th November 2016, took delivery of its second Airbus A330 aircraft at the Airbus delivery centre, Toulouse France.


The A330-300 powered by Rolls Royce Trent 772B engines touched down at Kigali International Airport at about 4pm local time yesterday following delivery flight from Toulouse France.


The brand new A330-300 nicknamed #Umurage is Wi-Fi enabled and can carry up to 274 passengers across three classes. It is larger than “Ubumwe” the A330-200 that arrived two months ago.


"With a capacity of carrying 274 passengers and 132.20 cubic meters cargo, we are proudly re-affirming our plans for long haul operations connecting Rwanda, the region and the continent to the rest of the World.” said CEO John Mirenge.


With the delivery of this aircraft, RwandAir now has a fleet of 11 aircraft including 3 equipped with Inflight connectivity - A330-200, A300-300 and Boeing 737-800NG.


The airline plans to launch operations to more destinations in 2017 including Harare via Lusaka, Mumbai, London, Lilongwe, Bamako, Conakry and New York.
