Based on reports from 1,144 airports worldwide, ACI has released the passenger traffic results for the most used airports in 2015. The Top 10 airports in the world by passenger numbers are:
1. Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International, GA, USA
The top spot continues to belong to Atlanta-Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL). It grew by 5.5% year over year in passenger traffic to record-breaking total of over 101 million passengers in 2015. Atlanta is strategically located as a major connecting hub and port of entry into North America. It also owes its strides to its major operator, Delta Air Lines.
2. Beijing Capital International, China
Beijing (PEK) was poised to close the gap on ATL by 2015 but remains in second position. The combination of a Chinese slowdown and capacity constraints has meant lower growth levels at the airport. It handled 89.9 million passengers in 2015.
3. Dubai International, UAE
Moving from the sixth busiest airport in 2014 to the third position in 2015 is Dubai (DXB). Total passenger traffic at the airport grew by 10.7% in 2015 to 78 million. The airport is also the world’s busiest in terms of international passengers ahead of London Heathrow (LHR)
4. Chicago O’Hare International, IL, USA
With 76.9 million passengers, Chicago O’Hare (ORD) moved up to become the fourth-ranked airport in 2015 from seventh position in 2014, with growth last year of 9.8%.
5. Tokyo Haneda, Japan
With 75 million passengers in 2015, Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, Japan is the world’s 5th busiest airport. It ranked 4th in 2014.
6. London Heathrow, UK
With 74.9 million passengers, London Heathrow slipped from 3rd position in 2014 to 6th in 2015 having been overtaken by Dubai International, Chicago O’Hare and Tokyo Haneda.
7. Los Angeles International, CA, USA
From the 5th position which it occupied in 2014, LAX fell to the 7th position in 2015. It handled 74.9 passengers in the year under review.
8. Hong Kong International, China
With 68 million passengers passing through Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok airport in 2015, it occupies the 8th position and retains its position as the world’s busiest cargo airport.
9. Paris Charles de Gaulle, France
Paris Charles de Gaulle, France handled 65.7 million passengers in 2015 making it the 9th busiest airport in the world.
10. Dallas Fort Worth, TX, USA

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.
Wonderful event and topics discussed, hopefully we see the manifestations in our African airline businesses in the nearest future. Kudos to you all.
