10th Anniversary: Air Peace Winds Up Thrilling October Fest Finals

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, West Africa’s largest carrier, Air Peace Limited, hosted the much-anticipated October Sport Festival, tagged "October Fest," which concluded in spectacular fashion on October 20, 2024.

The sports festival, designed to foster unity, camaraderie, and team spirit among staff, was a key highlight of Air Peace's decade-long journey of excellence.

The October Fest, a football tournament featuring 8 male teams and a novelty match for 2 female teams, kicked off on August 31, 2024. The month-long tournament brought together Air Peace staff from various stations across the sub-Saharan region to compete for glory while deepening bonds within the airline family.

The Teams

Male Teams:

  • BUU Shooters

  • BVE Rangers

  • BQQ Warriors

  • BUO Army

  • BWI Wanderers

  • BYJ Rovers

  • BXG Gunners

  • BQV Invaders

Female Teams:

  • BUJ Amazons

  • BYF Angels

The tournament was a thrilling spectacle of skill, excitement, and sportsmanship, full of pomp and fanfare. After weeks of intense competition, the finals culminated in nail-biting matches that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

In the male category, BQQ Warriors faced off against BXG Gunners in a dramatic final that ended 1-1 after regular time. The match was decided by penalties, where the BXG Gunners triumphed and were crowned champions.

The female category also delivered an equally exciting final, where BUJ Amazons played against BYF Angels. Both teams scored 1-1 in regular time, with BUJ Amazons securing victory through penalties. Major financial rewards were given to the winners, as well as the 1st and 2nd runners-up in the male category and the 1st runners-up in the female category.

In attendance at the event was Air Peace’s CEO/Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, along with members of the executive board and the airline's management. Addressing the press, Dr. Onyema emphasized the significance of the October Fest as more than just a football tournament.

“October Fest is a celebration of the resilience, dedication, and spirit of teamwork that has been the backbone of Air Peace over the last 10 years. This festival isn’t just about competition; it’s about bringing our Air Peace family together, recognizing our shared achievements, and fostering the unity that continues to drive our success. This milestone serves as a reminder of how far we’ve come and the bright future ahead.”

As part of the festivities, fans (staff) were also rewarded with amazing prizes, including international flight tickets, generator sets, washing machines, freezers, refrigerators, cash rewards, and other exciting household appliances, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The conclusion of the October Fest marks the beginning of a memorable celebration of Air Peace’s 10th anniversary, highlighting the airline's dedication to fostering unity and enhancing the well-being of its employees.
